What does it consist of?
Two new vocational training centres in Alcúdia and Platja de Palma, together with extending the agreement with Air Europa to train aircraft maintenance technicians, are the three major pillars of the regional government's plan to improve job training in strategic industries linked to tourism.

The project
Boosting employability in key industries such as hospitality, air transport and tourism increasingly depends on specialised vocational training with links to the business world, in line with new quality and sustainability standards. In the Balearic Islands, this is one of the main policy areas defined by the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities in collaboration with local authorities and industry players.
One of the main tasks planned is the drafting of construction projects for two integrated vocational training centres. One will be located in Alcúdia, specialising in hospitality and management, while the other will be in Platja de Palma, designed as a ‘hotel-school’ geared towards practical training in tourism, circular economy and innovation in services. Both facilities will have spaces adapted to new training methods.
The plan also foresees extending the agreement with Air Europa regarding a training programme for aircraft maintenance technicians. The number of places on the programme is expected to increase from 16 to 25, and there are plans to create a double degree that combines electronic systems with avionics. The employability rate for this programme is close to 100%, with immediate options both in the collaborating company and in the rest of the aviation industry.
These measures respond to a structural need to professionalise the job profiles that underpin a large part of the Balearic Islands' economic model. By bringing training closer to business reality, the aim is not only to improve the quality of jobs but also to strengthen the competitiveness of the archipelago as a destination.
