Talent Plus: Researching Health From the Balearic Islands

The Talent Plus project, funded with sustainable tourism tax (ITS), aims to establish programmes to recruit and hire researchers at the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa), with a special focus on Junior, Tech and Clinical profiles. This action seeks to strengthen the scientific structure of the institution, supporting both the incorporation of new target groups and the development of high-value research for society, especially in the field of human health. 

In this video of the Vides Transformades series, we meet Joan Bestard, a researcher who has been able to return to Mallorca with his family after four years in Belgium thanks to this type of initiative. Bestard works in biomedical research, adopting an advanced scientific approach to topics such as endogenous anti-inflammatory lipids and their role in therapeutic approaches to diseases such as colitis. His experience illustrates how a project like Talent Plus can transform not only someone’s professional career, but also the lives of others, serving to reinforce science in the Balearic Islands and drive solutions that have a direct impact on collective well-being.
