What does it consist of?

The project

Avenida de Sa Coma, in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, has been one of the main tourist hotspots in the coastal area since the 1990s. However, after decades without comprehensive redevelopment, the state of the pavements, street furniture and infrastructure has called for a complete overhaul. The project includes major works along more than 700 metres of road.

This will include replacing damaged pavements, upgrading the lighting network—with remote-controlled LED fittings—and a commitment to accessibility with wider pavements, benches and seating areas. One of the central features will be a new sculpture trail that will connect the shopping street to the Sa Màniga auditorium, thus reinforcing the link between public space, culture and less seasonal tourism.

Reduced environmental impact has been a key factor from the design phase. Recycled materials and pollutant-absorbing photocatalytic paving will be used, along with drought-resistant plant life and a recycled water irrigation system. Canopies, bicycle racks and improved signage will also be installed, thus reinforcing the functionality and look of the space.

The project has been defined following a participation process with local neighbourhood, hotel and business associations, with the support of the Cala Millor Consortium. The aim: to restore this city street’s place as a gathering place and tourist hub, especially outside the high season. Implementation is scheduled to take place between November 2025 and April 2027, with a budget of over €3 million.
