New Tennis Courts and Changing Rooms at Can Misses

A new sports area will allow tennis tournaments to be held and attract tourism in the off-season

What does it consist of?

Ibiza Town Hall will build three clay courts, changing rooms and stands at the Can Misses complex. The work, funded by the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) fund, is expected to start in June 2025, with completion expected before the end of the season.

The project

The Can Misses sports complex will have a new area especially for tennis in the coming years. The project, promoted by Ibiza Town Council and funded through the ITS fund, includes the construction of three clay courts and additional facilities including changing rooms, offices, storage rooms and toilets.

The aim is to attract official local, national and international competitions during the mid and low seasons. The new facilities are designed not only for local sports practice, but also as a tool to reduce seasonality in tourism on the island. The courts will be oriented towards Dalt Vila in order to incorporate heritage into the visitor experience.

The design is adapted to the existing terrain to minimise the visual impact and to respect the environmental features of the surroundings, including trees. Beyond the new sports facilities, the project includes a built-in grandstand and entry points to improve pedestrian flow on site. Conservation of the surrounding woodland is planned, and care is being taken to ensure the complex blends in with the landscape.

Work is scheduled to start in June 2025 and shall be completed before the end of the season. The project reinforces Ibiza's positioning as a destination for sports and health tourism, with a positive impact on both the local economy and the quality of life for locals.
