The project

The project is part of a plan launched in 2016 and developed in a second phase between 2017 and 2018. It seeks to support proposals linked to local identity that turn Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera into attractive destinations all year round. The initiative is based on three pillars: cuisine, culture and nature, as the basis for new tourism branding.

In terms of cuisine, actions include cooking demos, markets, fairs, and high-quality food and wine events. Cultural heritage is promoted through the creation of guides, routes, an app for archaeological sites and a museum at the Convent of San Diego. Regarding natural heritage, ecotourism is promoted through the Ecotourism Club and new sustainable activities.

The Balearic Government, through the Agència d'Estratègia Turística, has implemented this plan with an investment of €1.2 million, most of it funded by sustainable tourism tax. The action helps to diversify the tourism economy and create a more balanced, more respectful image of the archipelago.
